IOANA MANOLACHE

Posted by Mauri Weakley on

Ioana Manolache’s inspiration comes from normally mundane things.  Through the devotional exercise of painting, she is investigating materiality and illusion by melding the perceptivity of the painting process with the myth of images, while hashing out the blurry lines of a complicated realism in contemporary art and present time.  Ioana completed her studies at The Cooper Union (BFA) in 2011.  She was the recipient of the Betty Goldin Memorial Fund Book Prize (2011), has been nominated for the Rema Hort Mann Foundation Artist Grant (2011, 2012), and has exhibited in New York.   She is currently in residency at the Contemporary Artists Center at Woodside in Troy, NY.  Ioana was born in Romania, and now lives and works in New York City.  www.ioanam.com
