Abby Goldstein received her MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York and her BFA from the Pratt Institute in New York. She is currently an Associate Professor of Art and Program Director of the Graphic Design concentration at Fordham University in New York. Abby is interested in how our physical experience of habitation, travel, space, climate, and geography can be transcribed into a codified visual language. The topography of place: about the way roads, pathways, geologic faults, and rivers traverse the landscape is what stirs her imagination. These urban and natural physical elements—and how we travel around, over, and alongside them—form the core of her imagery. The telling of a complex story through the reduction of information into basic shapes, lines, and repeating marks is what Abby is seeking to capture in her work.
