Elaine Tian is a graphic designer and Brooklyn artist. Elaine studied Drawing and Sculpture at The College of Fine Arts in Sydney, Australia, then pursued her Masters in Design at The University of New South Wales. Comprised primarily of porcelain vessels and light fixtures, her ceramic work combines both sculpture (form/materials) and design (function) backgrounds, and is inspired by the beauty of simplicity and the wabi-sabi aesthetic. Elaine's mixed-media drawings explore her interest in mark-making, which is also evident in her ceramics.
In 2014, Elaine won the Madeline Sadin Award for ceramics, presented by the historic Greenwich House Pottery in New York City. Her work has appeared in New York Magazine, TimeOut NY, Food & Wine, Dwell, Lucky, Cool Hunting, and selected items can be seen on the set of Giada at Home on Food Network. More recently, a small collection of work was displayed in Paris at the prestigious Le Bon Marché
